Overview: Your “Dynamic Glove” for Daily Tasks
The SaeboGlove is a lightweight, low-profile hand rehabilitation glove designed to help you incorporate your affected hand back into daily life. If you can close your hand but struggle to open it back up, this “dynamic glove” provides the essential mechanical assistance needed to release objects. By facilitating everyday purposeful movements, it helps unlock the brain’s neuroplasticity, allowing you to regain control from the comfort of your own home.
How it Works: Tension-Based Extension
The SaeboGlove functions as an external “extensor tendon” system, bridging the gap when your muscles are too weak to open the hand independently.
- Mechanism: Integrated elastic tensioners run along the top of each finger and thumb. When you relax your grip, these tensioners pull your fingers back into an open, extended position.
- Tactile Design: The palm is completely exposed, which maximizes sensory input and touch. This is critical for the brain to “re-map” the hand’s function during rehabilitation.
- Customization: Tensioners are available in various strengths and can be removed or added finger-by-finger to provide the exact level of assistance your recovery requires.
How it Helps: Your Journey to Independence
- Enables Grasp and Release: Facilitates functional tasks such as holding a water glass, using a TV remote, or twisting a doorknob.
- Triggers Neuroplasticity: Helps the brain rewire itself by allowing for the high volume of repetitions needed for motor recovery.
- Builds Confidence: Moving your hand on “Day 1” provides an immediate psychological boost, proving that further recovery is possible.
- Lightweight Comfort: Made from breathable Lycra and leather, it is comfortable enough for extended wear throughout the day.
- Active Assistance-as-Needed: The SaeboGlove utilizes dynamic tensioning to provide precise Assistance-as-Needed, ensuring the patient remains the primary driver of every movement. By facilitating high-repetition functional task practice, it optimizes neuroplastic recovery through the patient’s own volitional effort.
- Improves Hygiene: The SaeboGlove’s open-palm design significantly reduces perspiration and the risk of fungal infections associated with a clenched fist. Furthermore, the fully washable materials allow for consistent sanitization, ensuring long-term skin health and patient comfort.
