I served on Active duty with the US Army for nine and one-half years and served two tours of combat in Iraq. I got out of the Army in April of 2006 and then enrolled at Columbus State University to pursue a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry degree. I was working full time and going to school full time. Almost a month before I graduated, I was on campus conducting some research for my Senior Chemistry project. As I was in the lab, I began to experience a significant headache. Unable to continue working, I left campus and went home for the night. When I got home, I took some aspirin and lay down to get some rest.

When I woke up the next morning the headache had worsened and my entire left side was numb. My speech was very slow. I knew at that point that something major was going on so I went to the emergency room where I was told that I had suffered a major stroke.

I found Saebo online and was extremely excited about the possibility of regaining full functionality for my left hand. The fight to obtain my SaeboFlex through the VA in Atlanta was a long one, but when I finally obtained my Saebo, it was well worth it.

The SaeboFlex has greatly improved my ability to open up my left hand. I can now pick up more objects and release them with my left hand, which I couldn’t do at all before. I also have a greater range of flexibility in my left and it improves a little more each day. One of the things that I am most grateful for is that my SaeboFlex restored my ability to drive my favorite car, “Porsha,” a 1991 BMW 318is. Many of my friends and relatives told me to sell her because I was told that I would never be able to drive a manual again!!! But thanks to the use of my SaeboFlex, they are all eating their words!
