Comfort First
In just daily walking, each of your feet caries your bodyweight about 5,000 times (about 10,000 steps). Suppose you weigh 150 pounds; that is about 750,000 pounds of pressure per day. If in addition to that, if you spend a lot of time on your feet, then it should be no surprise when your feet hurt at the end of the day.
There are things you can do to soften this pressure. One thing that feels great just after you put them on, but does NOT typically help by the end of the day, is to get very soft gel insoles at almost any drug or department store. They are generally inexpensive, but the problem is that they may leave your foot in a dysfunctional position…and may make that position even worse.
Is a custom-formed orthotic the answer?
Research is now reasonably clear that a high-end orthotic like Foot Scientific’s is more effective in reducing pain than an expensive custom orthotic (let alone the gushy gel orthotic).
The proper solution to maximize all-day comfort is to get an orthotic that matches your foot type (of three foot types). It should have enough “give” to be comfortable, but not so much that it loses its corrective features!
Foot Scientific’s founders spent over a decade hand-shaping orthotics from cork and have produced the most generalizable shapes to help the FLAT (pronating, type 1) foot and the HIGH ARCHED (supinating type 3) foot. We have grown largely by word of mouth from experts in Pronation and Supination. Our neutral arched foot distributes weight away from the heel and ball of the foot and adds additional cushion.
Thousands of people have found comfort through long, difficult days on their feet using one of Foot Scientific’s FDA registered orthotics.
